Leluja Gallery opened in 2022. It is located in the heart of Berlin’s multicultural and artistic quarter of Neukoelln. The gallery is aimed at collectors and lovers of traditionaly – made decorative arts and crafts. It presents traditional european artisans, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe.
Certain types of presented works have been produced in ateliers, workshops or manufactories for several generations. In this way, these artefacts belong not only to the present, but also to the past. Each product is designed by in-house and carefully hand-crafted by artisans around Europe. We have been the witness of disputes, whether the works of art created in traditional workshops, referring to the long-lasting traditions should be classified as art or as craft. We can assure you that the producers represented by our gallery are in every way artists, even if some of them have never attended any formal art school, being educated at home.
The word Leluja, the name of our gallery, means the tree of life and is one of the characteristic elements of paper cut-outs from eastern Poland. In our gallery we present paper cut-outs, textiles, ceramics , embroidery and furniture.
Leluja Gallery also features objects that are designed and created in cooperation with various manufactuters from Berlin and the nearest regions by Loft Design Berlin / Borodesign. The Loft Design Berlin products such as lamps, furniture and architectural elements refer to the history of Berlin lofts.
